Why BRAVO!: My family has always been obsessed with food, and lots of us have made professions out of it. My grandparents ran bakeries in New Jersey and Pennsylvania while I was growing up. My parents were also a bunch of natural cooks; we almost never ate out, so our dinners were always fresh and home cooked. We got inspired by watching the great television chefs like Julia Child and Jacques Pepin.
When I started working, I started with a stinky and unglamorous job at Wendy’s and worked my way up to managing a high end California fusion restaurant in San Francisco. Eventually I knew I wanted to go out on my own, and Jeff provided the perfect partner for my grand plans.
Life has been a constant adventure since we opened BRAVO! in 1994, but I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I like to think of myself as carrying on the family tradition!
